PIERRE — The Pierre/Fort Pierre Community Foundation has announced the recipients of grant funding for 2021. President Becky Burke says reviewing the applications gives the Foundation a chance to see all the ideas for creating opportunities, especially for youth in the area…
The Foundation has around 400-thousand dollars in an endowment fund and gives away 15 to 20-thousand dollars in grants each year. Burke says they want to give more money out and there is a way they can do that…

The largest gift of 35-hundred dollars is going to the Citizens Involvement Council for the Backpack Program and school supplies. The full list of grant awards is posted below:

- Sleep in Heavenly Peace, Inc. $2,000 Beds for children
- City of Pierre $1,500 Oahe Days entertainment, specifically Native American dancers and drummers
Youth Philanthropy Fund: - Oahe YMCA, Inc. $1,200 Soccer balls, Volleyballs, Footballs, Basketballs
- Oahe Hockey Association $650 Ten new helmets
- Pierre Tennis Association, Inc. $751 Tennis balls, racquets, and net
