Application Period Open For First-Time Youth Deer Camp

PIERRE, (KCCR) — Youth who have never experienced hunting for deer will get the opportunity this December through the Missouri River Corridor Youth Hunt. Four first-time deer hunters will be selected to take part during a managed youth hunt and camp December 20th through the 22nd at Brown’s Lodge and Hunting Ranch near Gettysburg. The Youth Deer Camp is open to first-time deer hunters between the age of 10 and 15. Camp participants will be shown how to select the best ammunition and firearm for deer hunting, shooting and firearms safety, sighting in a firearm, field dressing and properly caring for meat. Youth hunters will be provided meals, snacks, lodging, deer license, guns, ammo, safety equipment, transportation, binoculars and assistance with processing. Each youth hunter will be paired with an experienced guide. A parent or guardian must accompany any participant. The application deadline is August 15th. For more information call 605-730-1568.
