Sully Buttes’ Gavin Colson would get to a playoff hole to try and win the event on Monday at the Moccasin Creek Golf Course in Aberdeen as part of the Sanford Series, but would finish in second.
The Sanford Series is part of the South Dakota Golf Association Junior Tour which features kids from Pierre and the Miller area. Colson would be the highest finisher on Monday of the area athletes finishing at five over par, 77 as Jayden Antonen of Sioux Falls would win the event in the playoff. Pierre’s Luke Olson would finish tied for fourth at the event as well just a shot back at 78. Nick Bothun would also be a shot behind Olson tying for sixth at 79 with Lincoln Houska tying for 12th at 11 over par, 83. Jack Bartlett would place 25 with an 88 along with Miller’s Derek Brueggeman.
The Sanford Series will continue on Monday, July 8 with an event held at the Hillsview Golf Course in Pierre.
