South Dakota Discovery Center In Collaboration To Help Scientists Learn How To Teach STEM Classes To Children

PIERRE, (KCCR) — The South Dakota Discovery Center is involved in a unique collaboration that has the Center training scientists to become better communicators of their craft. Executive Director Dr. Rhea Waldman says they are a part of the Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research Collaborations for Optimizing Research Ecosystems Research Infrastructure Improvement Program or EPSCoR E-CORE RII

Waldman says while students start taking STEM classes in elementary school, most elementary school teachers don’t specialize in STEM topics…

The collaboration is also working to connect students with disabilities…

The full project is led by a team at the Center for Advancement of Math and Science Education at Black Hills State University in Spearfish.
