Eights Fall in Both Games in Minot Tournament

Pierre Post 8 would fall 12-1 to Mandan and 10-3 to South Central in the first two games of the Minot tournament on Friday.

A three run first inning would get Mandan off and running in the first game for the Eights. Sutton Sonnenschein would get the lone RBI in the bottom of the fifth on a sacrifice fly as he, Nolan Petersen, Grayson Hunsley and Bridge Babcock had the four hits for Pierre. A six run top of the seventh put the game out of reach for Pierre. Hudson Sheldon went 4-5 with three doubles and three RBIs while Brayden Bunnell would go the distance and get four RBIs at the plate. Brayden Houlette would 5 and 2/3 innings giving up nine hits, six runs on five walks and a strikeout.

In game two, Hunsley would go 3-4 starting the game with an RBI single in the top of the first. Pierre would take a 2-0 lead with an RBI single from Houlette, but a four run third and two runs in each of the fourth, fifth and sixth innings gave the South Central Cubs the 10-3 win. Colter Babcock would have the other RBI for the Eights as they had 12 hits with Hunsley having the only double. Bridger Babcock would go five and 1/3 innings giving up 12 hits, 10 runs, seven earned, with a strikeout.

Pierre is 0-2 in the tournament and will play Glendive, Montana at 10:00 and Minot at 2:30. Pierre has to win both to have a chance at making the championship on Sunday. Both games will be on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports.
