Pierre City Commission Approves First Reading Of Ordinance Change To Bring City In Line With New State 911 Surcharge

PIERRE, (KCCR) — The Pierre City Commission has approved first reading of an ordinance change to bring city ordinance in line with state law. Finance Officer Lacey Walz says the proposed ordinance change will reflect action taken this year by the South Dakota legislature…

Second reading and final action on the change will take place during the Pierre City Commission’s next meeting on Tuesday June 25th. The surcharge is paid by cell phone users and is paid monthly. The money goes to the state and is funneled down to Public Safety Answering Points or PSAP’s and the counties they operation in across the state.
