Zap Comeback Falls Short in 11th Straight Loss

The Oahe Zap would score five runs in the bottom of the eighth, but couldn’t come back in a 7-5 loss to the Spearfish Sasquatch Tuesday night in Pierre.

A three run error in the four run fourth helped boost the lead to 6-0 for Spearfish, but the Zap, who are trying to end a losing streak started to mount a comeback in the eighth. Jacob Trusner would hit a two run homer to make it 7-2 and three runs scored on two walks and a hit by pitch as the Zap had the tying runs in scoring position, but couldn’t get the tying hit. Ben Irsfeld would be tagged with the loss going five innings giving up seven hits, six runs, three earned on four walks with eight strikeouts. Jamy Habeger, manager of the Oahe Zap says a couple of big errors cost them four runs…

Habeger hopes the five run bottom of the eighth will bring momentum into the next game…

The Zap will travel to Spearfish to continue the series on Wednesday and Habeger says it’s nice to get on the road and start over…

Oahe falls to 3-19 and will play Wednesday through Friday in Spearfish starting at 7:05 Central Time.
