Zap Fall in Tenth Straight

The Spearfish Sasquatch would score five runs in the first inning to help defeat the Oahe Zap 8-3 on Monday sending the Zap to a tenth straight loss.

The first five men to come to the plate in the top of the first would reach base and all five would score and the Sasquatch held Oahe scoreless through eight innings to cruise in for a win. Buck Snabes would go 2-4 with a double for the Zap. Vince Pollizi had an RBI fielder’s choice to make it 8-2 in the bottom of the eight and Emiliano Curiel-Montijo had an RBI fielder’s choice in the ninth. Jordan Boman and Jack Dempsey each had two RBIs for the Sasquatch who tagged Jakob Swallow with the loss. Swallow settled into the game after giving up the five runs in the first to allow one more unearned run in six innings of work on six hits, four walks and seven strikeouts.

The Zap are now 3-18 on the season while Spearfish moves to 10-9. The five game series continues on Tuesday in Pierre with first pitch at 6:05. The games then move to Spearfish Wednesday through Friday.
