Six Run Third Dooms Eights in Dakota Classic Loss

Pierre Post 8 would finish the weekend at 0-4 after a loss on Sunday to Bennington, Nebraska with a 6-2 loss although the Eights would outhit its opponent.

Dawson Getz threw two perfect innings to start the contest, but a lead off error followed by five hits in the inning would help score six runs as Bennington only had hits in the third scoring all of its runs. Sutton Sonnenschein and Carter Scheifelbein would be in relief combining for two walks and three strikeouts in the final three and 2/3 innings. Miles Doyle would have an RBI triple and Getz would drive in the other run for Pierre in the sixth, but the Eights were held to just one hit through five innings and couldn’t quite make the comeback.

Pierre falls to 1-11 on the season and will face Aberdeen on Wednesday which is also the Hometown Hero night. Coverage will start at 4:45 with first pitch at 5:00 on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports.
