State Rail Board Approves Change Of Scope For Rapid City, Pierre And Eastern Project To Upgrade Drainage Along West River Tracks

PIERRE, (KCCR) — The South Dakota State Rail Board has approved a change to the scope of a project to improve water drainage under the Rapid City, Pierre and Eastern’s line between Fort Pierre and Rapid City. That project received a Special Transportation Circumstance grant to make permanent repairs to 2019 flood damage on the line. Jack Dokken with the Department of Transportation’s Air, Rail and Transit Office says the project includes seven culverts and a bridge…

Dokken says this project could have direct impacts on a larger project on the line…

Some of the changes to the scope came from needing more right-of-way to conduct the work. Jeff Cooley with Civil Design Incorporated of Brookings says modeling was done to high standards…

The change is adding the request for S-T-C grant funds by 78-thousand dollars.
