Pierre Railroad Viaduct Makes Late Night Snack Out Of Wayward Semi-Truck

PIERRE, (KCCR) — Another semi-truck has fallen victim to Pierre’s railroad viaduct. Pierre Police Captain Dusty Pelle says officers responded to the elevated Rapid City, Pierre and Eastern’s elevated rail crossing Wednesday morning around 2:50 am for a truck and trailer wedged under the bridge. The driver, 29 year-old Abdullah Alshaikhili of Avondale, Arizona was traveling north on Pierre Street in a 2016 Freightliner Cascadia when the enclosed trailer got stuck. There was no apparent damage to the bridge. Northbound Pierre Street was closed to traffic for approximately 90 minutes so that crews could remove the truck. Alshaikhli was given a citation for failure to obey a traffic signal. Pelle did not give a damage estimate for the semi-truck.
