Pugh, Miller in Second After First Day of Class B Girls State Tournament

Jayce Pugh of Miller along with the Miller Rustlers are in second place individually and as a team at the Class B Girls Golf Tournament in Brookings.

Area teams would see four members be inside the top five as Pugh is second a shot behind first at seven over par, 77 while Potter County’s Olivia Mikkelsen is in fourth at 11 over par, 81 and Kamri Kittleson of Jones County and Olivia Olson of Sully Buttes are tied for fifth at 13 over par 83.

The Rustlers are also scoring with Kaihlyn Anderberg in seventh place at 15 over par, 85. Sydney Asmuss is tied for 32nd at 25 over par, 95. Class B has the top three from each team score, but Bailey Brueggemen is shooting a 112 for Miller. The Rustlers are only seven shots back of first place Chester as Miller is 47 over par as a team.

Jones County is in fourth place as a team with Kittleson tied for fifth, Savannah Hendricks tied for 32nd at 95 and Tayah Anderson tied for 46th at a 99. Emily Newsam would shoot a 114 for the Coyotes.

Along with Olson for Sully Buttes, Berkley Birney is tied for 37th at 99 after the first day.

Highmore-Harrold’s Kendall Cermak is at 106 in the first day of the Class B girls state tournament.
