The final day of the 2024 Track and Field State Championships would finish on Saturday wrapping up another spring sport with plenty of top ten finishes for area teams.
Pierre
The Pierre Governors had eight top ten finishes to close out on Saturday as Carson Stoeser would place sixth in the 400 meters while Jared Lutmer would also place sixth in the 1600 meter run. Greyson Schuetzle would place fifth in the 110 meter hurdles. On the girls side, Kali Ringstmeyer would get third in both the 100 and 200 meter runs. Charlee Williams-Smith would get eighth in the 200, but finish in fourth in the 400 meters. Reese Terwilliger would close out her track and field career with a sixth place finish in the discus throw.
Sully Buttes
The Sully Buttes Chargers would finish with three top ten finishes at the end of Saturday as Olivia Olson would place fourth in the 300 meter hurdles and eighth in the 200 meter run while Gavin Barber would place seventh in the 400 meters.
Potter County
The Potter County Battlers had another five top ten finishes including a state championship relay team on Saturday. The team of Dannika Kaup, Jaydn Ahlemeier, Finlee Heien and Emma Schlachter would win the 4×400 relay team. Kaup would also place fifth in the 300 meter hurdles and Schlachter was eighth in the 800 meters. Carter Luikens would place third in the 400 meters and seventh in the 200 meters.
Lyman
Rory McManus had the other of the top ten finishes for the Lyman Raiders as he would place third setting a new PR in the 110 meter hurdles in his final event.
Jones County
The Jones County Coyotes would get three more top ten finishes on Saturday as BreAna Aske would place fourth in the 400 meters and seventh in the 200 meters. The team of Adrik Schoon, Jett Nix, Asa Best and Kaden Kinsley would finish in fifth in the 4×400 as the Coyotes placed six in the top ten for the Class B events.
Miller
Alex Schumacher, who placed ninth in the 800 meter run on Friday competed and finished fifth in the 1600 meter run on Saturday.
