Zap’s Big Inning Dooms Opening Season Loss

The Oahe Zap would fall 6-4 to the Fremont Moo in the opening game of the season as Fremont would score five runs in the eighth to secure the opening night win.

The two teams played to a 1-1 tie through seven innings as Fremont first scored in the top of the sixth as Bridger Coleman would get an RBI fielder’s choice. But the Zap would tie the game with an RBI single from Jackson Mix. A costly one out error in the top of the eighth would allow three unearned runs to score in the inning to make it 6-1. A two out error in the bottom of the ninth with the bases loaded allowed all three runs to score also unearned for the Zap to make it 6-4, but with the tying run at the plate, the Moo would get the final out as the defending champs would get the win on opening night. Brady Glenn was solid in his first start of the summer going four shutout innings allowing just one hit and three walks with two strikeouts.

The Zap and Moo will play the rest of the weekend with first pitch tonight and Saturday at 6:05 with Sunday’s first pitch at 1:11 all at Hyde Stadium.
