Governors Win Nine in Capital City Qualifier

The Pierre Governors would host the Capital City Qualifier on Tuesday, the last home meet of the season and the Governors would win nine events.

Pierre

Pierre was led by Reese Terwilliger winning both the shot put and discus throws while Charlee Williams-Smith would win the 100 meters and Makayla Sherwood in the long jump. On the boys side, Eladio Simental would win the long jump and high jump while Colby Carey would win the pole vault, Colter Babcock in the javelin and Brayden Houlette in the 400 meters.

Sully Buttes

For the Sully Buttes Chargers, Olivia Olson would get the lone win in the 300 meter hurdles while also placing third in the 110 meter hurdles. Teghan Westphal would place second in the triple jump and Gavin Barber was third in the 400 meters.

Stanley County

The Stanley Count Buffaloes would get a win in the 4×800 relay race with Spencer Sargent, Tyson Peterson, Eddie Duffy and Ryland Magee scoring the win. Sargent would place fifth in the 400 meters and Colton Brady also fifth in the 200 meters. Paxton Deal would be second in the long jump. On the girls side, Brianna Sargent would place third in the 400 meters while Kaysen Magee was fourth and then fourth again in the 800 meter run.

Miller

Alex Schumacher would get the lone win for the Miller Rustlers winning the 800 meter run while Colby Kolda would place second in the 200 meters and fourth in the 100 meters. Isaak Hunter was second in the 300 meters hurdles and third in the 110 meter hurdles. Pierce Baumberger was third in the 3200 meter run. The team of Kolda, Hunter, Joseph Baker and Kord VanZee placed second in the 4×200 relay race. Gracen Werdel, for the Miller girls, would place second in the 400 meters while the team of Gracen and Paige Werdel with Madeline Nye and Aleah Schlechter would place second in the 4×400 relay. Nye was also third in the 800 meters.

Potter County

The Potter County Battlers would leave with nine individual wins on the day. For the boys, Nicholas Schlachter would win the 1600 meter run while the team of Sean Seurer, Landon Larson, Jhett Simon and Carter Luikens would win the 4×100 and 4×200 relay race. Schlachter would join Seurer, Simon and Luikens to win the 4×400 relay race. For the girls, Emma Schlachter would win the 800 meters and Jaycee Stevens in the 3200 meters. Dannika Kaup, Jaydn Ahlemeier, Finlee Heien and Emma Schlachter would win the 4×400 relay race while Kaup, Ahlemeier, Peyton Stevens and Rayel Persoon would the 4×800 relay race. Kayden Cronin would win the triple jump.

Lyman

Rory McManus would have the best finish for the Lyman Raiders with a second place finish in the 110 meter hurdles and third in the 300 meter hurdles. Cole Kieffer was also third in the high jump. For the girls, the team of Claire Griffith, Ella Ehlers, Kingsley Schweigert and Kenzie Wagner would place sixth in the 4×200 relay race, the best finish for any girls competition.
