Governors Finish Fourth in Gov Invite

The Pierre Governor tennis team would host its annual invite on Friday and able to battle through the rain, still finished the tournament placing fourth as a team overall.

The Governors had multiple place winners on Friday starting with Weston Northrup in singles flight four having the best day of any Governor. As the three seed he would win his way to the championship match before falling to the top seed in flight four championship. Lucas Hight in flight two along with Jacob Leiferman in flight three each would finish higher than seeded with a third place finish. Brady Lowery in flight five would finish in fourth place after a first round win. Devin Dodson would finish in fifth in flight one knocking off the four seed in the consolation championship.

In doubles, Dodson and Northrup would place third in doubles flight two. The team was the only of the three doubles teams to place.

Overall, Pierre would finish with a team score of 134, five points better than St. Thomas More. Sioux Falls Christian would win the Gov invite title with a 398 total.

You can see a full list of the results below The Governors will be in Sioux Falls Monday and Tuesday for the ESD. Note the Govs were scheduled to host the event, but it has been changed due to the forecasted weather and will be played indoors.
