The Northern State Wolves would bow out of the tournament in the opening round of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Softball tournament with a 7-0 loss to Minot State on Wednesday.
The Wolves and Beavers played even through the first four innings, but a two out RBI single by Abby Lohse and a two run double by Anna LaCount gave Minot State a 3-0 lead through five innings. Sara Van Wickler extended the lead to 6-0 in the bottom of the sixth with a three run shot followed by another homer as Brooklyn Morrison would go back-to-back for Minot State. Northern State had just three hits in the loss as they finish the season 25-24. Lexi Chase went five and 2/3 innings allowing all seven runs on eight hits, one walk and two strike outs.
Minot State advanced to the quarterfinals and will face Concordia, St. Paul at 3:00 on Thursday at Ronken Field in Sioux Falls.
