Sioux Falls Drops Opening NSIC Game, Eliminated from Tournament

St. Cloud State, the eight seed in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference tournament would eliminate the nine seed Sioux Falls 6-2 in the first round of the conference tournament on Wednesday.

Sioux Falls would open up the scoring with Alannah Naumann scoring on a wild pitch but a two run double in the bottom of the third would give the Huskies the lead before a fourth inning grand slam by Maggie Fitzgerald would be all the offense the Huskies needed in the win. An RBI double in the sixth pulled the Cougars within four at 6-2, but Sioux Falls would go 1-2-3 in the seventh ending its season in the opening round game of the NSIC tournament.

Sioux Falls finishes the season at 20-28. St Cloud State advances to the quarterfinals and will still need to win three more games in three days to win the conference championship.
