Governors Drop Home Opener to Watertown

The Pierre Governor softball team had to go over a month before finally having its home opener as the Govs would fall 8-1 on Monday to the Watertown Arrows.

The Governors and Arrows were scheduled to meet on March 28th at home, but instead had to settle on April 29. Watertown improves to 2-0 against the Governors as the Arrows opened up a 5-0 lead after the top of the third before Noel Kist had the lone RBI of the game driving in BreAna Lowery in an unearned run. However, it was all the Govs could muster with just three hits in the game even with Watertown committing five errors. Kist went all seven innings in the circle giving up only two earned runs with two walks and five strikeouts. Lauryn Hirsch would pick up three RBIs for Watertown while Kinsley Van Gilder would grab three hits.

Pierre falls to 2-5 on the season and will travel to face Mitchell on Tuesday. First pitch from Cadwell Park is at 4:00.
