Softball Travels to Rapid City for Rescheduled Games in Rapid City

The Pierre Governor softball team is finally set to get back into action as they travel to Rapid City today for a triangular facing both Stevens and Sturgis.

The Governors are just 2-3 on the season last playing in Yankton and O’Gorman on Friday and Saturday, April 12 and 13 and besides Washington at 2-1 and Brandon Valley at 4-0, have played the fewest games in the state along with Lincoln and Rapid City Central. Pierre has a busy week with two games today and then another game on Friday and Saturday as the season will pick up if the weather permits.

By record, Stevens will be the tougher opponent today as the Raiders are 5-3 and in fifth place in the AA standings while Pierre sits in 14th. The Raiders have scored 10 plus runs in six of its eight games including scoring 15 or more in each of its last three wins.

Sturgis is at 2-7, but still higher than Pierre in the standings in 12th place. The Scoopers beat Yankton 4-2 the same weekend the Govs played the Gazelles and lost 12-0.

First pitch of the Stevens game is at 2:00 Central time with the Sturgis game at 6:00, all in Rapid City.
