Governors on the Road to Mitchell for Monday Doubleheader

Even though Friday’s doubleheader at home was postponed and the Pierre Governor baseball team didn’t have a game over the weekend, they don’t have to wait long with a road trip to Mitchell today.

The Governors are 7-4 on the season heading into the week with its four final road games of the season today in Mitchell and a doubleheader in Brookings on Friday. Afterwards Pierre won’t have to travel to until postseason play controlling its destiny to be at home in Super Region round leading up the state tournament.

Mitchell is coming in not having played as much as the Governors as they were just 1-2 heading into the week before facing Yankton on Thursday being swept by the Bucks. The Kernels return several from last year’s team, but hitting hasn’t come easy in the first part of the season. Head Coach of the Pierre Governors, Steve Gray says they’re going to have to be prepared for the doubleheader…

With the first 11 games on the road and another four still to go, Gray says this is a resilient bunch…

Gray says good at bats is going to be key…

Coverage tonight will begin at 4:45 with first pitch of the doubleheader at 5:00 on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports with Jon Winkler on the call.
