Governor Home Opener Postponed

The Pierre Governor baseball team was scheduled to play its first home games of the season on Friday night against the Roosevelt Roughriders, but the game has been canceled.

Due to the cold temperatures and high winds, it was not worth the risk to play Friday night with the wind chills dipping into the 20s before the end of the doubleheader. Pierre, at 7-4, will have to wait a little more than a week longer for the home opener, when they host Tea on Sunday, April 28 at 12:00 and 2:00. The Governors will travel to Mitchell on Monday and Brookings on Friday to close the road portion of the schedule next week. It’s a long line of games canceled in the last couple of days with only a few select games played throughout the week.

Coverage on Monday will begin around 4:45 with first pitch at 5:00 on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports with Jon Winkler on the call.
