Two Injured In Friday Afternoon Crash Outside Fort Pierre

FORT PIERRE, (KCCR) — Two people suffered serious non-life threatening injuries in a head-on, two-vehicle crash west of Fort Pierre on Friday. The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash that happened two miles west of Fort Pierre on U-S Highway 14/State Highway 34 around 3:40 pm. The preliminary investigation indicates a 2018 Chevy Silverado, driven by an 81 year-old male, crossed the centerline of the highway and crashed head-on with a 2010 Dodge Ram, driven by a 53 year-old female. Both drivers were taken to Avera St. Mary’s hospital. Both drivers were not using seat belts at the time of the crash. Speed and alcohol were not factors in the cause of the crash. Charges are pending in the crash, however the nature of the possible charges and who may be charged was not released. Also being withheld by the Highway Patrol are the names of the drivers involved in the crash.
