The Pierre Governor softball team couldn’t get the offense going on Friday in a trip to Yankton as the Gazelles would win 12-0 in five innings.
Yankton scored four runs in the first inning and added five in the fourth to help shorten the game and drop the Governors to 2-2 on the season. Yankton scored 12 runs on 12 hits as Erin Leiferman would be tagged with the loss allowing all 12 runs, but only eight earned with two walks and four strikeouts. Noel Kist, Nevaeh Karber, Micah Buffalo and Ireland Templeton each would have a hit for the Govs who were held to just four hits and did not draw a walk.
Pierre will travel to Sioux Falls and face O’Gorman on Saturday. First pitch is scheduled for 2:00.
