The Pierre Governor golf team opened its season on Thursday with just Hadley Hart and Annie Mosteller competing in the first event. Both placed inside the top 40 for the day.
Mosteller had the best day for the Govs shooting a 93, 22 over par, good for 27th place on the day. Mosteller had parred holes 12 and 13. Hart would finish in 38th with a 98, 27 over par. She had five pars on holes five, six, 11, 13 and 17.
Allison Meyerink of Mitchell and Kyley Wirebaugh of Aberdeen Central each shot a 76, five over par to tie for the individual win. Meyerink would win the scorecard playoff to grab the individual title win.
While Pierre didn’t collect a team score, Watertown would win the day with a playoff over Aberdeen Central shooting a 44 over par as a team.
The Governors will be back on the course again on Monday and Tuesday with a trip out to Rapid City.
