Blunt Junction Work To Resume Next Week

Blunt Junction Work To Resume Next Week

PIERRE, (KCCR) — Work is ready to restart on the Blunt Junction east of Pierre. Starting next week work will resume at the junction of U-S Highways 14 and 83 and at a location four miles west of Blunt on Highway 14. Work will start at the Blunt Junction and extend west to the end of the project area where a contractor will remove existing concrete and replace it with a new concrete surface. Traffic through the work will be two-way with a combination of temporary and permanent surfacing. Speeds will be reduced to 45 miles an hour in the work zones to protect both the driving public and construction workers in the zone. Traffic flow is expected to be normal for most of the project, but drivers should be aware of flaggers to help get construction traffic into the work area. Delays of up to 10 minutes can be expected during concrete paving along with the use of flaggers and pilot cars. A 12-foot width restriction will also be in place. At some point in the project the turn lane to go north on Highway 83 from eastbound Highway 14 will be not available. Traffic coming into the intersection should be aware of any left-turning traffic.
