AGE Corporation Acquires Concrete Plant in Ft. Pierre

A long-time Ft. Pierre company has now purchased the Fort Pierre site of a Rapid City-based company.

A-G-E Construction Corporation in Fort Pierre has purchased the Pete Lien and Sons concrete plant in Fort Pierre Pierre, along with its equipment and staff. Gary Johnson, president of A-G-E, says the two sides began talking about the purchase late in December of 2023 and finalized the deal at the end of this past March.

The purchase deal includes the concrete plant, trucks, and the staff that ran the operation. Johnson says the plant manager will be Rich Gloe, who is from this area.

The Ft. Pierre plant was the farthest eastern site for Pete Lien and Sons, which is based in Rapid City. Johnson said the plant will continue to provide services such as ready mix and precast concrete, concrete pump service, crushed stone, and specialty products. Johnson says the big difference is the material will now be located in Fort Pierre, thus reducing delivery times.

Johnson said the new venture is a natural fit for A-G-E and will provide for the opportunity for future growth.

A-G-E celebrates 60 years in the industry this June. Johnson’s grandfather started A-G-E, and sons Andy and Gerad now work with the family business.
