Team South Dakota 14U Begins Tournament in Backyard in Sioux Falls

In Sioux Falls, Team South Dakota 14U Girls will get a chance to play seemingly in their backyard starting the National Tournament today facing the Vegas Jr. Golden Knights in the opening game.

The Oahe Capitals have representation on this year’s 14U team with Ava Lavinger being the lone Cap for the 14U Team SD squad. Sioux Falls is hosting the tournament and nine of the 18 girls are from the Sioux Falls Flyers with another three from Brookings, only a 45 minute drive away. Team SD is looking for the home ice advantage and notch a championship for the state. Lavinger finished with a goal and a seven assists during the season for the Capitals.

Team SD plays its first game of the tournament at 5:00 Wednesday against the Vegas Jr. Golden Knights. Then on Thursday, they face Fox Motors, Michigan at 11:00 AM before finishing pool play on Friday at 5:15 against the Nashville Jr. Predators. The quarterfinals and semifinals will be played on Saturday and the championship game on Sunday at 11:15 AM all in Sioux Falls.
