Sanderson, Sioux Falls Power Head to 16U National Hockey Tournament

Las Vegas, NV – Pierre native Carter Sanderson and the 16U Sioux Falls Power will begin the first round of the USA Hockey Tier 1 National Tournament in Las Vegas versus the Dallas Stars Elite on Tuesday, April 2, at 9:15 A.M. pacific time.

The Power went 43-19 during the regular season and enter the tournament as the twelfth seed in the 16-team field.

Sanderson led the team with 35 goals, breaking the all-time single-season goals total for the Power 16U. He also led the team with 69 points, another single-season Power 16U record….

Sioux Falls is coached by Noelle Needham, a co-founder of the Power, former assistant general manager for the Chicago Steel of the USHL, and former NHL Scout for the Toronto Maple Leafs…

Forward Sam Spehar, a Chaska, MN native, University of Denver commit, and the all-time points leader for the 16U Power, is playing in his first national tournament…

Sioux Falls faced the Stars Elite earlier in the season, notching a 4-1 victory in Dallas on November 17th….

The Power will play three games in pool play: the Stars Elite on April 2, Mid-Fairfield Jr. Rangers at 6:30 P.M. pacific on April 3, and the Chicago Mission at 4:00 P.M. pacific on April 4. The top two teams in the pool will advance to the quarterfinals on Friday, April 5. All games are streamed on USA Hockey TV (www.usahockeytv.com).
