Tonight begins the season for the Pierre Governors as the Govs will travel to Rapid City facing the Stevens Raiders in a single varsity game before finishing the trip at Sturgis on Friday.
The Governors are coming off a state championship last spring winning 14 games in a row to win the title and bring plenty of experience back with them. One thing different to start the year for the Govs is getting games going the first weekend available. Last year the Govs had multiple weeks canceled before starting the season even with the schedule almost the same as this year. Coverage tonight will begin around 7:45 Central Time with first pitch scheduled for 8:00, but with the JV starting at 6:00 it could be pushed back to after 8:00. The game will be on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports with Jon Winkler on the call.
