Avera Announces Plans For Massive Additions To Sioux Falls Facilities

PIERRE, (KCCR) — Avera Health Wednesday announced a massive addition to its healthcare campus in Sioux Falls. Avera is planning to construct a six-story tower to McKennen Hospital and University Health Center and a second, three-story building at the Louise Health Campus. The 245 million dollar project is the largest in the history of the healthcare provider. It’s also the largest in Sioux Falls for a patient care space at 350-thousand square feet. The tower at McKennen will provide a new entrance to the hospital along with a focus on women’s and children’s care. The addition will bring 158 new beds to the main campus. The Louise Campus project will be geared toward digestive health services. Plaza Three on the McKennen campus will be removed. Those services will be moved to a yet-to-be-determined location. Construction is expected to start in mid-to-late summer. Completion is estimated for the Louise location in early 2026 and McKennen in early 2027.
