The Pierre Governor track and field team would compete at the Ruth Marske Invite on Saturday in Brookings, as the season kicked off with the indoor meet with both the men’s and women’s team placing in the top ten.
For the Governor men, they finish in sixth place with a team score of 38 tied with Brandon Valley with only Lincoln and Watertown finishing higher of the AA teams. For the guys, Jared Lutmer would place in the top five twice with a second place finish in the 3200 meter run while also placing fourth in the 1600 meter run. Greyson Schuetzle also had two top five finishes in the hurdles with a second place finish in the 300 meter hurdles and a fifth place finish at the 110 meter hurdles. Colby Carey would finish third in the pole vault while the team of Tayshaun Agard, Steven Blanchette, Brayden Houlette and Carson Stoeser finished sixth in the 4×400 relay. Stoeser also placed fifth in the long jump and eighth in the 200 meters.
The Governor women would finish in seventh place as a team with a team score of 30 as Kali Ringstmeyer had three top five finishes with two second places finishes in the 100 and 200 meter runs. She would team up with Jasmine Jost, Allyson Bauer and Charlee Williams-Smith to finish fourth in the 4×400 relay. Reese Terwilliger would be second in the shot put throw and Mason Berg would place eighth in the 3200 meter run.
