A big second and fourth quarter for the Dakota State Trojans women’s basketball team would to a 76-65 win over top seed in the Cramer Quadrant Indiana Wesleyan on Thursday in Sioux City, Iowa.
The Trojans were down 19-16 after the first quarter but came away with a 33-30 lead at the end of the first half and then outscored the Wildcats 28-19 in the fourth to seal the win. Four players hit double figures for the Trojans as Lilli Mackley led the team with 16 points while Morgan Huber finished with 12 and both Tabor Teel and Cierra Watkins came off the bench to score 13 and 12 respectively. Mackley would score 10 of her 16 in the fourth quarter including going 7-10 from the free throw line to seal the win and advance to the quarterfinals of the National Tournament.
Dakota State will face Carroll, Montana in the quarterfinals on Saturday after Carroll would beat Loyola of Louisiana 58-55 Thursday night. Tip off time is at 3:00 on Saturday from the Tyson Events Center in Sioux City, Iowa.
