HUD Grants $4.6 Million To Central South Dakota Tribes For Housing

PIERRE, (KCCR) –The United States Department of Housing and Urban Development has announced that nearly 70-million dollars is going to 38 Native American Tribes for housing projects across the country. Some of the funding from the Indian Community Development Block Grant program is going to South Dakota Tribes. In fact over four-point-six million of the nearly 70 million is going to projects in South Dakota. The money is the second round of funding for grants in the 2023 competition. The Cheyenne River Housing Authority is getting 681-thousand, 888-dollars for the Eagle Butte area. The Crow Creek and Lower Brule Housing Authorities are each receiving two-million dollars for housing improvement in their respective communities. The grants can be used to support infrastructure enhancement, community buildings, housing rehab, land acquisition, economic development and more.
