PIERRE, (KCCR) — A Pierre man is facing multiple charges following his arrest last weekend. Pierre Police Captain Dusty Pelle says officers were called Saturday night around 7:30 to the 400 block of South Robert Street to a reported assault. Investigating officers believe 22 year-old Kris Estes of Pierre had assaulted a female victim by trying to strangle the victim along with assaulting a small child. The female victim attempted to take the child away from the residence, but Estes would not allow either of the victims to leave. Estes then assaulted the adult female a second time. A witness who heard the assault arrived on scene to assist the female victim, but was also assaulted by Estes. Estes then tried to flee, but officers were able to take Estes into custody. Estes was transported to the Hughes County Jail on charges including Obstructing an Officer, Aggravated Assault—Domestic Violence, Simple Assault, Second Degree Kidnapping and Abuse or Cruelty to a Minor Under Seven Years Old.
