Two weekends ago, the Oahe Capitals went into the state tournament as the fifth seed and won with two upsets to place third, the highest jump of any team. On the same weekend, Jarron Beck would be selected for the second team All-State while Corbin Beastrom would be the Hobey Baker award winner for Oahe.
Beck, the senior captain for the team would lead the Caps in scoring as he finished with the fourth most points in the league scoring 23 goals and picking up 31 assists for 54 points. For the Hobey Baker award, seniors are eligible to win the award per team and for the Capitals, having 13 seniors made for a lot more candidates than usual. Beastrom was selected for the honor and Steele says he’s always been the biggest team player…
Also for the Capitals, Beastrom, Beck, Alex McIntire, Luke Miller, Riley Pfeifer and Barrett Schweitzer all received the Academic All-State awards which is given to seniors with a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or above and Steele says this group of seniors had a ton of leadership on it…
