Riggs Culinary Students Place In Two Of Three Categories During ProStart Invitational

PIERRE, (KCCR) — Pierre’s ProStart culinary students at T-F Riggs High School placed in over half of the categories during this year’s South Dakota ProStart Invitational held at the Ramkota Rivercenter in Pierre Tuesday. Riggs placed first in the cake decorating category with a St. Patrick’s Day themed dessert created by MacKenize Magee and Kierstan Miller. The cake decorating category is unique to South Dakota. Riggs finished second in the culinary category losing out to the Sioux Falls C-T-E Academy. Sturgis Brown took second in cake decorating. The management category was won by Northeast Technical High out of Watertown with Huron finishing in second. The President’s Award went to Alex Spell of the Mitchell C-T-E Academy and the Knife Skills Award was presented to Alex Brenner of the Sioux Falls C-T-E Academy. Other schools in the competition came from Florence, Harrisburg, Madison and Mobridge-Pollack. The event is sponsored by the South Dakota Retailers Association.
