FORT PIERRE, (KCCR) — Fort Pierre’s Tourism and Promotion Council is looking to help area events get the word out about their activities through the 2024 Event Grants program. The grants were previously called marketing grants and the deadline for 2024 events to seek assistance is April 15th. Funding will be awarded to individuals, businesses or organizations to support new events, projects or the expansion of existing events; all with the goal of bringing people to Fort Pierre. Grants are awarded from between 250 and 2500-dollars. A 50-percent cash match is a requirement of the grant program. In 2023 the Fort Pierre Tourism and Promotion Council awarded over 10-thousand dollars to events like Buckin on the River, the Match of Champions, Horse Racing at the Stanley County Fairgrounds and the 4-H Finals Rodeo.
