Dozark’s Hat Trick, Capitals Swarm Flyers to Win First Round Game

The Oahe Capitals had a 3-0 lead against the Sioux Fall East Flyers and held on for a 4-2 win on Friday in the first round of the state tournament in Brookings.

Aiden Dozark would net three goals including what would be the game winner as the Capitals avenge its loss to the East Flyers and do so in the first round of the state tournament. Dozark gave the Caps a 1-0 lead after one as he stuffed in the first goal short handed passed Trey Salonen. Devin Dodson would make it 2-0 after a cross ice pass from Barrett Schweitzer left Dodson wide open to make it a 2-0 lead early in the second. Thirty seconds later and on the power play, Jarron Beck would win a face off to Dozark who sniped one home to make it a 3-0 game. Sioux Falls would answer with a Ben Vermeer goal to cut the deficit to 3-1, but Dozark again would deflect a puck into the back of the net from a Luke Miller shot as Jayce Anderson would also pick up an assist on the goal.
