White River Man Convicted On Rape, Sexual Assault Charges By Mellette County Jury

PIERRE, (KCCR) — A White River man has been convicted by a Mellette County jury of raping a 23 year-old woman at a White River apartment complex. South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley says the jury returned guilty verdicts on three charges; Second Degree Rape, Third Degree Rape and Sexual Contact with a Person Incapable of Consent. Jackley says 26 year-old Keenan Bordeaux raped the victim on March 5th of last year. Bordeaux could be sentenced to a maximum of 50 years in prison. A sentencing date has not been established. Jackley says he hopes the conviction of Bordeaux will bring closure to the victim and the victim’s family and thanked the law enforcement and prosecutors who solved the case. The Mellette County Sheriff’s Office investigated the case while attorneys from both the South Dakota Attorney General’s Office and Mellette County State’s Attorneys office prosecuted the case.
