The Potter County Battlers were looking to avenge its loss to the Leola/Frederick Titans on Tuesday night in the SoDak 16 at Northwestern High School, but the Titans were able to use a strong second half to win 72-56.
The two teams went on runs in the first half as the Titans first went from a one point lead to a near 15 point advantage late in the second quarter before the Battlers used its run to pull within six at the break at 43-37. However, the Titans outscored the Battlers 29-19 in the second half, quickly getting the lead to double figures and never looking back, to advance to the state tournament at 22-1 on the season. The Titans were led by Noah Kippley with a game high 26 points while Brayden Sumption added 19 points. Potter County’s Ryder Falkenhagen would have a team high 16 points while Landon Larson added 14, Chance Smith with 11 and Jhett Simon with 10 as four players hit the double figure mark on the evening.
Potter County’s season ends with a 15-8 record while Leola/Frederick will be the sixth seed facing the three seed Castlewood in the final game of day one next week Thursday night in Aberdeen.
