Lower Brule Man Sentenced On Federal Drug Charges

PIERRE, (KCCR) — A Lower Brule man has been sentenced in federal court on drug charges. U-S Attorney Alison Ramsdell says 26 year-old Garrett Goodlow was sentenced Monday to just over six-and-a-half years in federal prison on a charge of Conspiracy to Distribute a Controlled Substance. Three years of supervised release was also ordered as a part of sentencing by Chief Judge Roberto Lange. Goodlow was indicted by a federal grand jury in July of last year and pleaded guilty in November. Ramsdell says the conviction goes back to February of 2022 when Goodlow intentionally conspired with others to distribute methamphetamine around central South Dakota, specifically the Lower Brule and Crow Creek Reservations. Goodlow would get large amounts of meth and redistribute it to be sold. Goodlow was arrested during a traffic stop in February of 2023 where law enforcement uncovered over a pound of meth in his vehicle. Goodlow was immediately placed in the custody of the U-S Marshal’s Service to begin his sentence.
