Minnesota Truck Driver Ticketed For Attempting To Pass Truck Under Pierre Railroad Viaduct

PIERRE, (KCCR) — A Minnesota truck driver has been ticketed by Pierre police after he got his 18-wheeler stuck under the Pierre Railroad viaduct. Pierre Police Captain Dusty Pelle says the crash happened Monday around 7:50 am. The driver of the truck, 37 year-old Ahmed Ibrahim of Willmar was northbound on Pierre Street when his 2016 Freightliner with 53-foot trailer struck the bridge. The trailer exceeded the 11-foot, three-inch height limit getting the semi stuck. The impact damaged the wind deflector of the tractor and damaged the first few feet of the trailer. Crews off-loaded the cargo of the trailer to a second trailer then slowly pulled the trailer out from under the bridge….

Northbound Pierre Street was closed for around two-hours while crews worked to remove the trailer. Southbound Pierre Street was closed briefly during the incident. Ibrahim was cited for failure to obey a traffic control device. There was no apparent damage to the bridge, however crews from the Rapid City, Pierre and Eastern were at the scene to inspect the structure.
