Stanley County Falls in SoDak 16 Qualifying Game as Cheyenne-Eagle Butte Completes Comeback

The Stanley County Buffaloes built a 12 point halftime lead, but Cheyenne-Eagle Butte would storm back to beat the Buffs 55-46 on Friday night to advance to the SoDak 16.

Cheyenne-Eagle Butte would outscore the Buffaloes 24-7 in the third quarter after trailing 29-17 at the break, but a five point lead after three quarters turned into a nine point victory for the Braves avenging its loss to the Buffs from earlier in the season. Paxton Deal and Broch Zeeb each had 14 points to lead the way for the Buffs. Zeeb will graduate as the only senior playing for the Buffs. Damien Clown had 16 while Levi Elk Nation and Easton Lawrence had 11 points each for the Braves.

Stanley County’s season ends at 14-8 on the season while Cheyenne-Eagle Butte will be the 13 seed and face the four seed Pine Ridge in the SoDak 16 on Tuesday. The two teams did not play the regular season finale after a benches clearing altercation ended the JV game early and canceling the varsity game.
