PIERRE, (KCCR) — The Casey Tibbs South Dakota Rodeo Center is preparing for a landmark event this spring. The Center will be holding for the 30th time the Match of Champions on June 1st in Fort Pierre at the Stanley County Fairgrounds. The P-R-C-A Xtreme Bronc Match will be bringing the top cowboys in the country to central South Dakota. In 2023, 27 of the top 30 ranked saddle bronc riders took place in the event. The Match of Champions is one of two major fundraising events for the Casey Tibbs South Dakota Rodeo Center. Executive Director Kalyn Bergeson says the Center was established not as a hall of fame but as a place to honor the contributions of many in the rodeo industry to South Dakota. The Casey Tibbs Foundation supports the center and the promotion of the past, present and future of South Dakota’s official sport, rodeo.
