Tuesday night the Pierre Governor girls wrestling team had its welcome home as the Govs picked up its third straight state championship last weekend at the State wrestling tournament.
Pierre won the team title by the slimmest of margins, one half of a point, but had it locked in by the time Abbigail Lewis had won her state championship. Still, Matt Thorson, head coach of the Governors says it was an interesting and unique situation…
Thorson says, everybody had to do their job in every single match to win the team championship…
And Thorson says, every one is special in its own way…
The Governors are the only team to have claimed a girls team state championship.
