Williams, Johnson to Wrestle National Tournament for Dakota Wesleyan

Two former Pierre Governor wrestling standouts will take to the NAIA National Championship mats this weekend as Aric Williams and Tyson Johnson will both be competing for a National Title.

The Dakota Wesleyan Tigers both earned a spot into the national tournament this year during the Great Plains Athletic Conference Tournament as Williams placed third in the 141 while Johnson finished in second at 157.

Williams, a graduate student, is listed at 10-3 on the season and will face Taylor Vasquez in the first round of the 141 national tournament. Vasquez is ranked 14 in the 28 man bracket.

Johnson, a sophomore, comes in at 13-7 at the national tournament, but will get the number three overall seed in the 157 bracket, David Rubio of Corban University out of Salem, Oregon.

Day one begins at 11:00 AM with all first round matches with the second session starting at 6:00 with second round championship matches and first and second round consolation matchups. You can see brackets, and full list of schedules by following the link below.
