Hoven Man Arrested Saturday In Pierre After Allegedly Backing Into Car On Purpose

PIERRE, (KCCR) — A Hoven man was arrested last weekend in Pierre after allegedly ramming into another vehicle on a Pierre street. Pierre Police Captain Dusty Pelle says officers were contacted around six p-m on Saturday of a possible hit-and-run at the intersection of East Church Street and North Harrison Avenue. Pelle says a witness to the incident told police a red Ford Expedition stopped at a stop sign and backed into a vehicle stopped behind it. The Expedition then left the crash site. Officers identified the driver of the Expedition as 41 year-old Timothy Stevens of Hoven. Pelle says officers learned through their investigation that Stevens had intentionally backed into the other car and knew who the driver of the vehicle was. Police located Stevens later Saturday night and arrested him on charges of Intentional Damage to Property, Leaving the Scene of an Accident and Reckless Driving. Pelle did not say how the men knew each other.
