Governors Begin Final Week of Season Facing Jefferson as Boys Host Senior Night, Girls Travel

Tonight begins the final week of the regular season for the Pierre Governors as the Governor boys will be at home tonight for the final time hosting the Jefferson Cavaliers while the girls will face the Cavs in Sioux Falls.

After the one point loss on Friday to the Mitchell Kernels, the Governor girls will take on the Jefferson Cavaliers looking for a top five victory as The Cavs come in at 14-4. These two teams have had some great games in the short history of the school being around. The Govs beat the Cavs 65-58 last year at home at the end of the season and this year the challenge will be just as tough. The Cavs are in fourth place in the standings while the Govs are in seventh and a win will solidify Pierre a home game in the SoDak 16 while also potentially moving them into the top five with only one game remaining after tonight.

The Governor boys want to get back on track tonight in the final home game. Pierre is the 10 seed in the standings and face the 11 seed in Jefferson tonight. Pierre still has a shot to host a SoDak 16 game, but will need to go 2-0 this week with also the Roosevelt Roughriders still to play on the road on Friday. The Govs are less than a seed point average away from moving to sixth, but also are within a seed point of dropping to 12th. A lot will still be decided over the last week of the season.

Tip off of both games will be at 7:00 with the boys game at Riggs High School and the girls game at Jefferson High School.
