The Pierre Governors wrestling team will host the Region tournament on Saturday as the Govs look to qualify all 14 positions into the state tournament starting next week Thursday,
The Governors will be the host of the Region 3 tournament with the top four automatically qualifying for the state tournament. However, fifth and sixth places can still reach the tournament and available to compete if there’s injuries or wrestlers who don’t make weight at the beginning of the state tournament.
The Governors are one of nine teams in Region 3 as they host Aberdeen Central, Chamberlain, Cheyenne-Eagle Butte, Huron, Milbank, Mitchell, Sisseton and Todd County. Region 3 might be the toughest region of Class A and the Governors will have to battle to get all 14 into the state tournament next week Thursday.
The tournament begins at 10:00 AM in at Riggs High School.
